Leelanau Landscapes at the art center

Carolyn_Damstra__The_Art_of_Sleeping_Bear_DunesLUDINGTON – Ludington Area Center for the Arts opens a new exhibit in its Main Gallery on Friday, May 2. ¬†Artist Carolyn Damstra will be displaying her ‚ÄúRecent Paintings of the Leelanau Peninsula‚ÄĚ. ¬†This exhibit is scheduled to run through June, removed only briefly the first weekend of June for the Lighthouse Festival Arts & Crafts Show.

Damstra is an artist and illustrator who holds a BFA in Studio Art  and a MA in Art History from Michigan State University.  She creates paintings from photographs or imagination and is greatly inspired by the Sleeping Bear Dunes area of the Leelanau Peninsula.

A reception for Carolyn Damstra and her exhibit is scheduled for Friday, May 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Main Gallery.  The public is welcome to attend this free reception to meet the artist and view the exhibit.  Light refreshments will be served.
