Chamber accepting nominations for Business of the Year, Community Service Awards

Future Five Recipients new this year.

LUDINGTON — The Ludington & Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Mason County Business of the Year award, the 2013 Mason County Community Service award, and new this year, nominations for the Future Five. Deadline for all nominations will be 5 p.m., Monday April 14, 2014.

The awards will be given out in a presentation ceremony at the chamber’s annual dinner to be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. The award categories and criteria are detailed below. All nominees will be honored at the awards ceremony prior to announcing the winners. Tickets for the Annual Dinner are now available and are $35 per person. Seating is limited, so please place your reservation by calling the Chamber office at 231-845-0324. Reservations must be received by 5 p.m. April 25, 2014.

2013 Business of the Year Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize a business that has made an impact on our community through their business expertise and community service. The business must be located in Mason County and be a member of the Ludington & Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce. All members are listed on the Chamber website atwww.ludington.org.

The Business of the Year award will be judged on the business’s ability to demonstrate excellence in business practices through sales, quality of service, customer service, leadership and/or community involvement. Nominations must include a written summary of why this business deserves this award.

2013 Community Service Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual or group for their accomplishments in offering service to the community on a volunteer basis.

Nominations must include a written summary of what volunteer efforts were made by the individual or group and why they should be considered for the award.

Future Five Recipients

Future Five is a new award that will recognize five area young professionals who are growing and excelling in their respective fields. These individuals are currently influencing the growth, prosperity, and quality of life in Mason County and demonstrate the ability to positively impact the area in the future through professional accomplishments and community involvement.

The awards are open to anyone living or working in Mason County. Nominees must be age 21-40 on or before December 31, 2014. Nominees must agree to be profiled in news features reviewing the award. Nominees are required to complete a bio survey upon nomination.

All nominations must be submitted in writing by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 14 and must include the name of the individual submitting the nomination.
