Drive Safe, Drive Sober will provide New Year’s Eve rides again

LUDINGTON — Several organizations and businesses are once again trying to assure that New Year’s revelers have a safe time. Drive Safe, Drive Sober is a partnership between Mason County law enforcement agencies, Ludington Beverage Co., various local establishments, the Ludington Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Mothers Against Drunk Driving of Mason County and S.A.D.D.

Ludington Police Chief Mark Barnett said the goal of the effort is to prevent injuries and deaths that occur from drunk driving. “To that end Quinn’s Tire & Tows, Oceana Auto, Abrahamson’s Towing and Ludington Mass Transportation Authority are teaming up to provide free transportation for individuals whose celebration will include alcohol, Barnett said. Free tows are also available, if needed.

Reservations for rides with LMTA can be made by calling 231-845-6218. Calls can be made on New Year’s Eve day from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. and then from 7:30 p.m. until 3 a.m. January 1, 2014. Calls for free tows can be made directly to the two companies as follows:
