LUDINGTON – The following defendants were sentenced this past week in 79th District Court:

 

–         Anthony John Purgiel, 60, of 1385 Preston Ridge NW, Grand Rapids, was found guilty Sept. 18 of medical marijuana – improper transport and controlled substance use (non-narcotic).  He was sentenced Oct. 18 to two 10-day jail terms with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for two years for Count I and one year discretionary jail for two years for Count II; must obtain outpatient counseling; driver’s license suspended 180 days/restricted 150 days; $580 in fines and costs; no alcohol/drugs; and subject to random preliminary breath tests (PBTs) and drug tests.

–         April Lynn Lange, 39, of 3776 N. Jebavy Dr. Ludington, was found guilty Oct. 15 of driving while license suspended (DWLS). She was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; $580 in fines and costs; and one year discretionary jail for two years. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS). One count of improper registration/failure to transfer/unregistered was dismissed.

–         Jeffrey Alan Bartosiewicz II, 21, of 5211 S. Pere Marquette Hwy, Ludington, pleaded no contest Oct. 15 to recreational trespass. He was sentenced to 46 days in jail with credit for two days served; 90 days discretionary jail for two years; random PBTs; and $580 in fines and costs. One count of trespassing upon a key facility was dismissed.

–         Larry Wayne Olson, 63, of 5958 sixth St., Ludington, was found guilty Oct. 15 of attempted failure to comply with reporting duties. He was sentenced to 150 days in jail with credit for two days served; one year discretionary jail for two years; and $580 in fines and costs.

–         Brian Lewis Sroka, 29, of 114 48th St., SE, Kentwood, pleaded no contest Oct. 15 to attempted assault/resisting/obstructing and disorderly person – drunk. He was sentenced to two three-day jail terms with credit for three days served; one year discretionary jail for two years for Count I and 90 days discretionary jail for two years for Count II; must have substance abuse evaluation and follow recommendations; no alcohol/drugs; subject to random PBTs and drugs tests; and $1,160 in fines and costs.

–         Alex Robert Papes, 81, of 3069 E. Michigan St., Free Soil, was found guilty Oct. 15 of operating while intoxicated, second offense. He was sentenced to 32 days in jail with credit for two days served; must report to jail Feb. 1, 2014 unless he attends Impact Weekend and follows recommendations; Alcohol Highway Safety Education (AHSE); $1,545 in fines and costs; one year discretionary jail for two years; no alcohol/drugs; must attend Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) for two years; and subject to random PBTs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

–         Cory Wesley Jolly, 24, of 201 S. Madison, Custer, was found guilty Oct. 15 of operating while intoxicated, second offense. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail with credit for 32 days served; outpatient treatment; if he doesn’t enter an inpatient treatment facility, he must attend Impact Weekend and follow recommendations; no alcohol/drugs; random PBTs; and $1,545 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

–         Michael Robert Shook, 37, of 1311 S. Madison St., Ludington, was found guilty Oct. 15 of operating while intoxicated or under a controlled substance. He was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; AHSE; $1,245 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend next session of the Victims Impact Panel; no alcohol/drugs; and subject to random PBTs. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of operating under the influence of liquor (OUIL) with child endangerment was dismissed.

–         Asia Kaprice Horton, 17, of 555 E. Martin Luther King Dr., Idlewild, was found guilty Oct. 17 of smoking use/possess tobacco by a minor and sentenced to four months probation and 19 hours of community service.

–         Marrianne Kay Olmstead, 52, of 1345 S. Poplar Rd., Custer, was found guilty Oct. 15 of malicious destruction of personal property (MDOP). She was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; outpatient treatment; $771.69 in fines, costs and restitution; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; and no contact with the victim. One count of domestic violence was dismissed.

–         James Arthur Nash, 40, of 3595 W. Fisher Rd., Ludington, was found guilty Oct. 21 of wetlands protection – unauthorized filling. He was sentenced to $580 in fines and costs. A second count of the same charge was dismissed.

–         Collin David Bradfield, 19, of 1084 E. James St., Muskegon, was found guilty of DWLS. He was sentenced to $285 in fines and costs and 15 days discretionary jail. Conviction reportable to SOS.

–         Joseph Martin Lucero, 31, of 2310 McComb Dr., Clio, was found guilty of disorderly person – urinate in public and sentenced to $285 in fines and costs.
