Alfred F. Boulee age 88 of Hamlin Township in Ludington, MI, passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2013. He was born September 23, 1925 in Manistee, MI son of Ford and Pearl (Elmer) Boulee.

He graduated in 1944 from Manistee High School and joined the U.S. Army Air Corps. Alfred was a waist gunner on a B-17 which flew out of England near the end of World War II. He graduated from Central Michigan University in 1951 and was employed by Owosso High School where he taught Business subjects, Earth Science, and Physical Education. He coached basketball and football and also refereed for those sports. He retired in 1986 and moved to the family property on Hamlin Lake.

In 1953 he married Donna Smith in Owosso. He is survived by their four children: Alan Boulee of Fremont; Douglas Boulee of Grand Rapids; Bruce (Lisa Myers) Boulee of Hamlin Lake, and Jill (James) Verbeke of St. Clair; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dorothy Zientek, Maple Swank and her husband Earl Swank.

A memorial service will be at the American Legion Post 76, 318 N. James Street, Ludington, MI at 1:00 pm on Friday October 25, 2013. The family will receive friends for visitation at the American Legion Post from 12:00 pm until the time of service. The Manistee Elks Lodge will present the 11th Hour Toast at 1:00 pm followed by the presentation of the military honors by the American Legion Post. A luncheon will follow after the service.
