AMBER TWP. — Two people were taken to the hospital following a two-car crash near the intersection of U.S. 10-31 and Dennis Road. The accident occurred around 11:15 a.m. when a Chevrolet Cruze driven by an 83-year-old Ludington woman apparently pulled into the path of an oncoming Land Rover SUV driven by a 31-year-old Hart man.

The 83-year-old woman and her 89-year-old husband/passenger were transported by Life EMS ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. The SUV driver did not suffer from injuries. Both vehicles sustained considerable damage.

Mason County Sheriff Sgt. John Mendham said it appears the 83-year-old woman was turning west from North Dennis Road and the SUV driver was westbound on U.S. 10-31. The sheriff’s office accident investigation team — which investigates crashes with serious injuries — was called in to investigate.

Pere Marquette Township and Ludington fire departments were also on the scene.

This story will be updated when names and conditions of patients are released.
