ORLANDO, Fla. — Ludington native Tanya Maglothin is currently playing the United States Specialty Sports Association Women’s A, B, C and D Slow Pitch World Series in Orlando, Fla. The tournament also includes the USSSA Men’s Major and C Slow Pitch World Series. Maglothin, who now lives in the Detroit area, is a 1996 graduate of Ludington High School.

The 90-team event is being held this weekend at the Disney Diamondplex, which features four fields in a giant circular pattern with two additional fields adjacent. Outfield fences measure 305 feet.

Tanya is the daughter of Dave and Debbie Maglothin of Ludington. During her high school career at LHS she became an All State Honorable Mention catcher. She has gone on to play softball on many teams in the Detroit metro area. She had been sidelined by a serious ankle injury last season and had surgery to correct it. Her mother, Debbie, says Tanya is hoping to have a good run in this tournament, which will wind up on Sunday.
