MANISTEE — Governor Rick Snyder will attend the funeral of Michigan State Police trooper Paul Butterfield, who was murdered Monday during a traffic stop.

Mlive.com reported Press Secretary Sara Wurfel confirmed Snyder will be in attendance. “The Governor is honored to be able to help recognize the service and sacrifice of Trooper Butterfield and pay respects to his family and fellow law enforcement officers,” Wurfel said.

The funeral service is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. on Sept. 14 at Manistee High School.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. in the gymnasium. Both the funeral and the visitation are open to the public.

A processional of emergency vehicles will travel from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office in Ludington to Manistee High School Saturday morning.
