Trooper shooting suspects to be charged

LUDINGTON — UPDATED… Probable cause has been found against Eric Knysz, 20, and his wife, Sarah Knysz, both of Irons.

Eric Knysz will face four counts in Mason County’s 79th District Court in relation to the shooting death of Michigan State Police Trooper Paul Butterfield. He faces charges of homicide/murder of a police officer; weapons felony firearms; weapons carrying concealed; unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle and habitual offender second offense.

His wife, Sarah Knysz, 21, faces charges of accessory to a felony after the fact and unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle.

The magistrate reports that Sarah is expected to be arraigned at 12:30 p.m. today while Eric will most likely be arraigned Thursday.
