HAMLIN TWP. – A 17-year-old Ludington man riding a skateboard was injured tonight after he was struck by a truck. Sgt. John Mendham of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office said Harly Fisher was riding the skateboard north on Lakeshore Drive south of Sugar Grove Road around 9 p.m.

“According to witnesses, the skateboarder rode right out in front of the truck,” Mendham told MCP. “It appeared that the driver of the truck really had no way to avoid the accident.”

Mendham said Fisher did not seem to have life threatening injuries. “He was complaining of leg pain.” He was transported to Memorial Medical Center by Life EMS ambulance.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor.

Hamlin Township Fire Department, in addition to the sheriff’s office and Life, responded to the scene. Emergency personnel were clear within about an hour.
