Obit: Donald Brennan, 83, Riverton Township

Donald “Don” James Brennan age 83 of Riverton Township passed away on August 27, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center of West Michigan in Ludington, MI.

He was born Sept. 1, 1929 in Summit Township, Ludington the son of the late John and Thelma (Griffis) Brennan. Don graduated from Ludington High School and went onto to serve his country in the United States Air Force. He married Carolyn Janet (Kiefer) on April 18, 1953 at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington and she survives.

He was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church. He was employed as a foreman at Harbison Walker Refractory for 20 years as well as a farmer. Don was an avid fisherman and hunter and also enjoyed bowling and loved playing softball.

Don is survived by his wife Janet; daughters Kay (Dennis Caplis) Brennan, Mary McVicker; sons John Brennan and, Robert (BJ Fornino) Brennan; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; sisters Carole (Darrell) Cardy, Evelyn Shimp; and brother Ronald Brennan.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters Barbara Jean, Joanne and Lucille.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday August 31, 2013 at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington with Father Wayne Wheeler celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church beginning 1 hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions in memory of Donald “Don” may be directed to the Riverton Township Fire Department or the Scottville Senior Center.
