Beach Hazard in effect; high winds, cooler temps

A beach hazard is currently in effect until this evening. Today’s weather conditions could lead to high wave action and dangerous swimming conditions, including strong structural currents, strong longshore currents and rip currents.

Beaches in effect are from St. Joseph to Manistee.

Here are the current conditions for the Lake Michigan shoreline and Mason County (including Pentwater) as of 8:30 a.m. today.

Lake Michigan water temperatures:

Ludington Stearns Park: 58 F

Ludington State Park (Big Sable Point): 44 F

Summit Park: 62 F

Pentwater: 62 F

Afternoon weather:

Ludington: Partly cloudy and windy with temperatures reaching 66 degrees F. Humidity: 60%; wind: north at 25 mph.

Scottville and Pentwater: Partly cloudy and windy with temperatures reaching 68 degrees F. Humidity: 51%; wind: north-northwest at 24 mph.
