4 sentenced in circuit court this week

LUDINGTON — The following was sentenced this week in 51st Circuit Court:
–          Donald Allen Chamberlin, 43, of 4705 E. Fisher Rd., Custer, pleaded no contest May 21 to three counts of assault with a weapon and possession of a firearm and he was found guilty of habitual offender, third conviction.  He was sentenced July 9 to three concurrent terms with the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) of two years, 10 months to eight years and a consecutive term of two years with the MDOC. Three counts of assault causing harm less than murder; three counts of felony firearms; one count of domestic violence, third offense; one count of habitual offender, fourth conviction, were dismissed.
–          Curtis Jerome Johnson, 20, of 7613 N. Irons Rd., Irons, was found guilty April 2 of attempted third-degree CSC. He was sentenced July 9 to one year in jail with credit for three days served; serve six months up front with balance to be served at the court’s discretion; 60 months probation; $783 in fines and costs; must successfully complete sex offender therapy; and no contact with the victim. One count of third-degree CSC was dismissed.
–          Stanley Douglas Kruk, 56, of 1846 E. US-10, Custer, was found guilty May 14 of third-offense operating under the influence of liquor (OUIL). He was sentenced July 9 to one year in jail with credit for six days served; serve eight months up front with the balance to be served at the court’s discretion; may be released to inpatient (IP) treatment after seven months; 60 days community service; $1,098 in fines and costs; 18 months probation; and immobilization of vehicle for six months. Conviction is reportable to SOS. Counts of controlled substance – possession of marijuana, second offense, and habitual offender, third conviction, were dismissed.
–          Gary Wayne Galbraith, 44, of 4600 Maple Rd., Manistee, was found guilty April 9 of OUIL, third offense. He was sentenced July 9 to one year in jail with credit for five days served; serve nine months up front with balance to be served at the court’s discretion; 60 days community service; sentence is consecutive to sentence in Oceana County; 18 months probation; and $1,098 in fines and costs. One count of habitual offender, second conviction was dismissed. Conviction is reportable to SOS.
