Scottville to discuss code enforcement

June 3, 2013

SCOTTVILLE — The Scottville City Commission is expected to discuss the list of over two dozen properties in the city that are currently in violation of the zoning ordinance. Most of the violations are issues like homes in need of painting, siding or other repairs.

The city commissioners were expected to prioritize which properties the city should address first and to what extent the city will go in regards to enforcement.

City Manager Amy Williams has distinguished the list between properties that are owned by the occupants and those houses that are rentals. “I do this only for informational purposes,” she wrote to the commissioners in a memo. “But, I think it goes back to our discussion where a lot of the problems stem from rental homes.”

The city commission meets at 5:30 p.m. at city hall.
