Kosla: great things happening in Ludington; running for mayor

LUDINGTON — Ludington resident Dave Kosla has announced that he is going to run for mayor of Ludington. The announcement was made through a Facebook page. Kosla, 32, is a professional musician and works and teaches at Instrumental Music Store in Ludington.

“I think some great things have been happening in Ludington the last few years that is hopefully translating to new business for our beautiful downtown,” he told MCP. “My interest in federal politics gave me a desire to get involved. At the local level, governments are held more accountable, and are able to respond better to citizens. This is my inspiration to run for mayor. I believe our local government should do what it can to create an environment where citizens and local business can thrive.”

Kosla served as a state delegate for Michigan District 2 in the 2012 Republican presidential primary election. He is currently a precinct delegate.

“Having been involved in politics at the district and state level, I feel the biggest positive impact happens locally. I hope to bring a fresh point-of-view to the office of the mayor.”

Petitions are now available in the City Clerk’s Office for the Office of the mayor, clerk, second ward councilor, fourth ward councilor, and sixth ward councilor. Petitions are due back to the City Clerk by May 14  at 4 p.m. The primary election is f Aug. 6 and the general election is Nov. 5.
