Hamlin fire department receives grant

March 15, 2013

HAMLIN TWP. — The Hamlin Township Fire Department has received a $1,799.99 grant from the Great Lakes Energy People Fund.

The grant will be used to purchase a Honda 5,000 watt generator, which will be located in the department’s command rehabilitation trailer. The trailer will house the department’s ice rescue equipment, search and rescue equipment, radios/pagers for communication with department personnel and other agencies. The on-scene command trailer is designed to provide firefighters a safe, clean and reliable facility.

Members of Great Lakes Energy support the People Fund by voluntarily rounding up their bills to the next highest dollar. The rounded up amount is distributed to non-profit organizations and charitable activities that benefit people in communities served by the energy cooperative.
