West Shore Bank to offer summer concerts again

March 4, 2013

LUDINGTON — West Shore Bank has announced the return of Rhythm & Dunes, its community concert series. The set of free concerts are coming back to the Waterfront Park Pavilion in Ludington for a second summer. They are being planned on Saturday, July 27, and Saturday, August 3.

“The overwhelmingly positive feedback we received after last year’s concerts was beyond what we expected,” said Raymond Biggs, President of West Shore Bank. “We’re hoping we can build on the success of last year and that many more people will be able to enjoy this fun, family event.”

West Shore Bank offers these concerts to reinforce its reputation as the leading bank supporter of economic and cultural development in the community, a press release stated. In addition to providing an opportunity for local families to enjoy great music and a fun night out in the park, the bank hopes that the concert series will contribute positively to the efforts of the chambers of commerce, convention and visitors bureau and local merchants to attract visitors to the area and to enhance their visit.

The first concert scheduled for July 27 will feature the world-famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. Glenn Miller first formed his big band in 1938 and it quickly became an enormous success with multiple hit records including Chattanooga Choo Choo, Moonlight Serenade, and In The Mood. The band toured the world, playing for sold out crowds and dominating the airwaves. Miller joined the army in 1942 and disappeared over the English Channel on a flight from London to Paris in 1944. In 1956, the current Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed after the success of the film The Glenn Miller Story. Since then, the band has toured consistently, playing an average of 300 shows a year. It remains the most sought after Big Band in the world. Don’t miss out on what is sure to be an incredible performance!

Plans for the second concert on August 3, are still being developed and will be announced soon.
