Scottville may add chair lift to park pool

March 2, 2013

SCOTTVILLE – The city of Scottville will need to purchase a lift chair for the swimming pool at Riverside Park. The purchase is required by a new law that requires all public schools to provide a lift chair for those with disabilities. The chair must be in place before the pool opens this spring, City Manager Amy Williams reports.

The city’s parks and recreation committee is recommending the city purchase a chair at a cost not to exceed $6,000.

“At this time I have been researching costs and am hopeful we can get a chair that would meet our needs in more of the $4,000 to $5,000 price range.

Riverside Park expenses are usually covered by Riverside Park revenue, not tax dollars.

City Commission is expected to approve the request during its regular meeting Monday at 5:30 p.m.
