MCC forensics scores first place

BIRCH RUN — The Mason County Central High School forensics team defeated class B and C state champions in a tournament in Birch Run Saturday.

MCC competed against 24 teams and ended with a first place team trophy. There were 20 of 24 events in semi-finals, and 13 events out of 20 made finals.

MCC scored 247 points and in 2nd place, Divine Child the reighning Class B state champions scored 226. Coming in fourth place were the reining class C state champions with 136 points. This is the top finish for the 2013 team, coached by Tom Richert. The team will travel to North Branch to face stiff competition this Saturday.
