5 sentenced in circuit court

LUDINGTON — Four people were sentenced in 51st Circuit Court this week for the related offenses of unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle. They included Christopher Bradley Cox, 20, 4775 W. Angling Rd., Hamlin Twp.; Donald Gene Case, 17, 209 W. First St., Scottville; Spencer William Johnson, 19, 207 E. Filer St., Apt. 1, Ludington and Timothy Munoz Ratlif, 19, 1619 W. First St., Amber Twp.
They each received 180 days in jail, serving 5 months up front and the balance to be served at the court’s discretion. They also had to pay $8,278 in fines, including $7,300 in restitution.
The four had been arrested on Sept. 27 and charged by the Michigan State Police for arson. The prosecutor dropped the arson charges in a plea agreement.
Also sentenced this week was Joseph Thomas Williams, 21, 7357 N. 126th Ave., Hart, was found guilty on Jan. 8 for a probation violation stemming from a 2009 conviction of home invasion second degree. He was sentenced to 1 to 10 years in prison and fined $3,261.88.
