The Laramie Project continues at Art Center

October 24, 2012

LUDINGTON – The Lakeside Civic Players opened “The Laramie Project” on October 19.

The production has been an experience not just for the audience but for the show’s cast as well. On an opening screen prefacing the show, director Josh Thomas offered the following note to show patrons the reactions his cast has had by being a part of this experience.

“Note from the Director:

‘We are Laramie’, is a quote that came up often during our rehearsals for this show. This was not something that I told my cast in order for them to understand the importance of this show, but instead it is something the cast came to find out as they began telling their family and friends that they were involved in this show and listening to their reactions. This is something that I realized a long time ago and was one of the reasons that made me want to do this show. We are Laramie along with many other small towns across the country. People from our own community are dealing with homosexuality ranging from pro, to anti, to indifferent; many of which echo residents of Laramie, WY”.

“The Laramie Project” and the story it tells of the reactions of the people in Laramie, WY can teach us all about our own human experience and how we deal with those who are different from us. This show challenges its viewers to think about their own views and ideas and how they interact with those in their own community who may have different beliefs, life experiences, and dreams for the future.

The Lakeside Civic Players invite you to experience this moving story at one of the remaining performances on October 26, 27 & 28th.
