LUDINGTON — Patrick Lopeman, owner of WMOM radio said he has spent the last several weeks preparing for tonight’s broadcast of Ludington Orioles football. Lopeman along with sports announcers Todd “Scoop” Hansen and Gary Castonia were at Oriole Field this afternoon making the final preparations for tonight’s play-by-play broadcast of the Orioles versus long-time rivals Manistee.

“This is the 121st time the Orioles and Chippewas have played each other on the football field,” Hansen said. “In fact, it is actually the fifth oldest football rivalry in the state with the two schools first meeting in 1895.”

The game begins at 7 p.m. Hansen and Castonia will be announcing the play-by-play under the direction of area sports announcing legend Rod Beckman, WMOM’s sports director.

“We are very excited for the debut of MOM’s sports team tonight,” Lopeman said. “We are also thankful for all the great support we have received from the community.”

The game is being broadcast on FM 102.7 and live on the web at www.wmom.fm/live.
