LUDINGTON — Jeff Nellis will be Mason County’s next probate judge. The Hamlin Township resident and Ludington based attorney defeated Ludington native and Michigan Court of Appeals attorney Nick Krieger during Tuesday’s General Election. The race was close, however. LUDINGTON — With 23 of the 25 voting precincts in, Jeff Nellis is the leader of the Probate Judge race, barely. With Branch and Sherman townships to report, Nellis holds a 50.58 percent lead over Nick Krieger, 5,720 to 5,546.

Ludington charter amendment defeated

LUDINGTON — The Ludington charter amendment to increase the mayor’s term limits has been defeated by a 66 percent margin. The amendment was requesting the mayor’s term will not be extended from three four-year terms to five four-year terms.
