Walter Byron Marks, 78, of Ludington, died Friday, May 27, 2016, at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. Walter was born on March 5, 1938 in Detroit, MI to the late Edward Ralph and Esther Lillian (Hutchinson) Marks. He married Beatrice “Bea” J. (Mecklenberg) Marks on July 11, 1958 in Detroit. servpro_springstead_022616PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fraud/identity theft complaint received Friday, May 27, at 11:06 a.m. in the 2000 block of S. Lakeshore Drive.

“The victim had an unknown person take out a Verizon phone plan in his name and charge over $7,000 in phone bills,” said Sheriff Kim Cole.

– 10:11 a.m., illegal dumping, 5800 block of N. Stiles Road, Victory Township.

– 2:47 p.m., damaged property, victim reported his garage door kicked, 8700 block of E. US 10, Branch Township.

– 5:08 p.m., two-vehicle crash, no injuries, US 10 and Meyers Road, Amber Township.

Saturday, May 28, 2016:

– 2:34 a.m., a 24-year-old Ludington man was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop, Jebavy Drive and Bryant Road, PM Township.

– 10:19 a.m. ,two-vehicle crash, no injuries, US 10 and Meyers Road, PM Township.

– 12:27 p.m., ​damaged property, victim reports four tires slashed on his vehicle
200 block of W. Millerton Rd., Victory Township.

– 3:10 p.m., one-vehicle crash, no injuries, Conrad and Stiles roads, Amber Township.

– 5:22 p.m., car/deer crash, no injuries, Jagger and Lincoln roads, Hamlin Township.

– 10:24 p.m., car/deer crash, no injuries, Fountain and Dennis roads, Victory Township.

– 10:42 p.m., ​a 22-year-old Fountain man was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs following a traffic stop, US 10 and Brye, Amber Township.

Sunday, May 29, 2016:

– 2:45 a.m., ​24 year-old Ludington man was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop, US 10 and PM Hwy., PM Township.

– 5:35 a.m., car/deer crash, no injuries, Hawley and Scottville roads, Riverton Township.
– 5:46 a.m., ​car/deer crash, no injuries, US 10-31 and Gordon Road, Amber Township.

– 2:20 p.m., two-vehicle crash, minor injuries, US 10 and US 31 southbound on-ramp, Amber Township.

– 5:06 p.m., trespassing, 1900 block of W. Conrad Road, Amber Township, case remain under investigation.

– 9:30 p.m., a 35-year-old Fountain man was operating a dirt bike on private property when he lost control and was ejected off the cycle. He was transported to Spectrum Health/Ludington Hospital for treatment. The crash occurred on private property in the 4400 block of N. Custer, Sherman Township.

– 11:06 p.m., ​a 46-year-old Grand Haven woman was arrested for OWI following a traffic stop, Tamarack Trailer Park entrance, Hamlin Township.

The Mason County Allied Veterans Council will hold a Memorial Day parade Monday, May 30 in Ludington.
