LANSING — The Michigan Community College Association has announced the election of Sherry Wyman of Scottville as chair of the MCCA Board of Directors for the 2025–2026 year. Wyman serves on the West Shore Community College Board of Trustees.

Wyman was elected to the WSCC 2016 and has served as board chair since 2021. She is the first woman to hold that position in the college’s history. Wyman has an associate degree in business administration from Mid Michigan College and all four of her children attended West Shore Community College.

Wyman is a vice president at West Shore Bank, covering commercial loan operations, security and compliance and she and her husband, Randy, own Wyman Funeral & Cremation Services in Scottville. Wyman has served on numerous local boards, including the Mason County Central School Board of Education and the Ludington and Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors.

“I’m honored to serve as board chair of the Michigan Community College Association,” said Wyman. “Community colleges are the engine of economic mobility in our state, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure our institutions are positioned to support Michigan learners, employers, and communities.”

Brandy Johnson, President of the Michigan Community College Association, added: “Trustee Wyman’s leadership and deep ties to her community make her a powerful leader. Her voice at the helm of our executive committee will help strengthen the role of community colleges in advancing Michigan’s talent and economic goals.”

Wyman follows Peter Provenzano, chancellor of Oakland Community College, who now serves as immediate past chair.
