LUDINGTON — Ludington Boy Scout Troop 1190 is raising funds to support its program. The troop has been in existence for over 100 years. Dick Boes, who joined Troop 1190 in 1967, has been scout master since 1993. The scouts are in need of assistance that will help support their activities, camping trips, merit badge programs, and leadership development.

Funds raised will directly benefit the scouts by helping to cover costs for summer camp, outdoor gear, uniforms, merit badge supplies, and travel expenses for campouts and events. Contributions will help by  providing funds for enriching experiences that build character, leadership, and lifelong skills in today’s youths.

Scouts from the troop volunteer at a variety of community events.

Accompany veterans to lay wreaths for Memorial Day services, and read aloud the names of those local military who have fallen in wars.

Collect American flags from the boats participating in Fish on for Freedom.

Wrap and carry presents for guests at the Salvation Army Toys for Tots.

Hand out medals and prepare food for the North Country Trail Race.

Set up a life-sized creche.

Help the Ludington Rotary Club prepare beds for the Ludington Petunia Parade.

Pick up trash after the Ludington Area Jaycees Freedom Festival Grand Parade.

Donations can be made through the troop’s GoFundMe page.

Anyone wishing to volunteer with the troop may email: boyscouttroop1190@gmail.com or contact Charlie Wood, Pineboycharlie@hotmail.com.
