Intoxicated woman arrested after standing in US 10 traffic.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — A 45-year-old Mason County woman was arrested by Ludington police for disorderly conduct Wednesday, July 28, shortly before 7:30 p.m. at US 10 and Stiles Road.

“The woman was intoxicated and standing in US 10 traffic,” said Cpt. Steve Wietrzykowski. “She tried to get into someone’s stopped car, but was not successful. The woman’s presence on the highway was causing a traffic back up.”

She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.

“Ludington Police responded, because all county and state units were occupied with a disturbance in another part of the county,” said Cpt. Wietrzykowski.

In a separate incident, a 31-year-old Lake County man was in the Spectrum Ludington Hospital emergency room for a mental health evaluation when he fled the ER Thursday shortly before 5 p.m., said Cpt. Wietrzykowski.

The man was soon located by law enforcement and returned to the ER to complete his evaluation.

“At no time was the public at risk due to the man’s flight from the ER,” said Wietrzykowski. The search was conducted by Mason County sheriff’s deputies, Michigan State Police troopers, Ludington Police Department officers and coordinated by dispatchers from Mason/Oceana Central Dispatch.
