PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Slippery roads caused a House of Flavors manufacturing semi truck and trailer to slide off of Pere Marquette Highway, between the twin bridges, causing the vehicle to jackknife in a ditch. According to Mason County Sheriff Sgt. Adam Lamb on the scene, the 38-year-old driver said he was northbound on Pere Marquette Highway and started to lose control of the vehicle’s trailer going down the hill south of Iris Road. The driver tried several times to compensate but was unsuccessful. The vehicle ended in the ditch on the west side of the highway, causing the road to be limited to one lane. The driver was uninjured and the trailer was empty. He was coming back from the Summit Township plant to the downtown Ludington plant.

Responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office and Pere Marquette Township Fire Department.
