LUDINGTON — Downtown Ludington businesses will kick off the holiday shopping season Saturday, Nov. 7, with the inaugural Shop Your Community Day, an event that will benefit Mason County nonprofit organizations while offering shoppers opportunities to win prizes.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Participating downtown businesses will donate 10% of their qualifying sales that day to Mason County nonprofit organizations selected by shoppers.
Each participating business has nominated a nonprofit organization to be included on the event’s official list. Shoppers may select any organization on the list to benefit from their purchases, regardless of which participating business they visit.
“Every purchase made will help strengthen a local business while having a greater impact in the community by giving back to organizations that make our community a better place to live, work and play,” said Brandy Miller, spokesperson for the Downtown Development Authority.
Shoppers will also have opportunities to win Downtown Dollars. Each qualifying purchase will earn a tear-off prize entry for a chance to win one of three grand prizes: $500, $250 or $100 in Downtown Dollars. The Downtown Dollars may be redeemed at more than 40 participating locations throughout downtown Ludington.
“The more you shop, the more chances you have to win,” Miller said. “We hope shoppers will use the day as an opportunity to explore downtown, discover a new favorite business, find unique gifts, and support the causes that matter to them. Every purchase can make a difference.”
A list of participating businesses, eligible nonprofit organizations and additional event information will be available at downtownludington.org.
