LUDINGTON — Kelli Stojic has been named executive director of Sandcastles Children’s Museum, effective Nov. 1.

Stojic has served on the museum’s board of directors since 2019, including leading the fundraising team for Ludington’s Got Talent. She became interim executive director in May, succeeding Brian Sak, who had also served as interim director.

“Kelli has stepped into the role of Executive Director very gracefully, efficiently, and with a wealth of knowledge,” said Nanette Kibbey-Scribner, president of the museum’s board of directors. “This is a challenging role, but Kelli’s experience on the board is helping her navigate well. We are grateful to have her in our corner continuing the legacy of Sandcastles.”

Kibbey-Scribner also recognized the museum’s staff, particularly Cathy Dalton, who has worked at Sandcastles for 13 years.

“We are grateful for everything Cathy Dalton has done during this time of transition. She has been part of Sandcastles for thirteen years, and we could not do this work without her,” Kibbey-Scribner said. “Our entire staff goes above and beyond every day to make sure all our guests feel welcome to the museum. We have a fantastic team.”

Stojic is a 2026 graduate of West Shore Community College, where she earned a degree in accounting. She completed an internship in the college’s business office under Chief Financial Officer Conny Bax, a former Sandcastles board member.

Stojic has also been a licensed cosmetologist in Michigan since 2009 and has worked in the banking and hospitality industries.

She previously served as chairperson of Vote Yes for MCC, an advocacy group that supported Mason County Central Schools’ bond proposal efforts. She also worked as a parent advocate with the Bay-Arenac Great Start Collaborative’s Mother Baby Café.

“I believe my variety of experience has uniquely positioned me for success in this new role with Sandcastles,” Stojic said. “Working with nonprofits taught me that community impact is a necessary benchmark of success. Working in banking and hospitality provided an understanding of the strategic needs of running an organization. Working at the college last year gave me a front row seat to an inspiring display of success in both spaces.”

Stojic said she plans to continue the museum’s mission of encouraging children and families to explore the world through play. The museum works with area organizations to offer educational programming throughout the year.

“We are grateful for all our partnerships,” Stojic said. “Collaborating with local organizations has allowed us to explore new pilot programs like our summer STEM Adventures or our monthly Play & Learn and ParentingLink activities. The generosity within our community from both individuals and foundation donors cultivates the equitable access to play-based education we believe every child deserves.”

Stojic lives near Scottville in Victory Township, with her husband and four children. They attend Ludington United Methodist Church, where she helps teach Sunday school and participates in the Ludington Community Bell Choir.
