Obituary: Sara Catherine Christensen, 51, of Scottville

Sara Catherine Christensen age 51 of Scottville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 while surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sara was born January 18, 1975 in Ludington, the daughter of Nels and Sandra (Schilling) Christensen and graduated from Mason County Central High School with the class of 1993.  Sara was a devoted mother, caring sister, beloved aunt, and cherished friend.  Her greatest joy in life was not found in material things, but in the people and numerous animals she loved.

Sara had a special love for the simple things in life and anything outdoors – from traveling, rock hunting, camping, kayaking, horseback riding, or a campfire with family and friends. Whether it was sharing a laugh, telling stories, spending a quiet afternoon together, or simply enjoying each other’s company, those moments were what made Sara happiest.

Sara leaves behind her beloved son Loren Cart; her mother Sandra Christensen; her brother Ted (Patricia) Christensen; her sister Nicki Claire; and her beloved nieces Krystle Maneke, Carlie (James) Gonzales, and Brianna Claire. She will also be deeply missed by her extended family, lifelong friends, and everyone whose life she touched.

Sara was preceded in death by her father Nels S. Christensen; her infant brother and sister Dennis and Carla Christensen; her paternal grandparents Aage and Florence Christensen; her maternal grandparents Stanley and Catherine Schilling; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held for Sara at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 26 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Scottville with Rev. Kenneth Williamson and Pastor Pete Engblade officiating.  Burial will take place at Center Riverton Cemetery.  Friends may meet with her family on Saturday morning prior to services at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
