Brian Handy, 86, after living a full life, has gone to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026.
Brian was a very hard worker his entire life. He will be remembered for his kindness, and willingness to help whenever he could and helping work with anyone on extra jobs. He loved to reminisce about people that he knew and places where he has been. He enjoyed collecting scrap metal to keep himself busy. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved his Kubota tractor and was always working in his yard. He loved his dogs and took them on many rides. He enjoyed fishing and hunting turkey, deer and bear. He was an avid Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan and did not miss watching any games. He also enjoyed watching racing. He was an active member of his church and enjoyed attending church services and Bible studies.
He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Beatrice Handy; brother, Gary Handy; and sister, Nelda Gilbert.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Handy; his four children: Brian (Bobbie) Handy, Beverly (Robert) Shinsky, Timothy (Kathy) Handy and Sherri Shorts; grandchildren: Andrea Shinsky, Jonathon Shinsky, Amanda Cross, Jeffrey Shorts, and Jenna Shinsky; several great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will take place on Sept. 26, 2026 at CrossRoads Church in Scottville at 11 a.m.
