Susan Jabrocki
Susan Marie Jabrocki, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, departed this world peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026. Born on Nov. 12, 1943, in the serene town of Frankfort, Susan was the cherished daughter of Doris Elaine Cady and Elmer (Jack) Derby.
Susan’s life was a rich tapestry of love, family, and passion. In 1963 she married Robert (Sam) McBride, with whom she shared 19 beautiful years until his passing in 1982. Their union brought forth a loving family, including sons Jeffery (Anna) McBride, Mark (Deborah) McBride, daughter Belinda (Leon) Jabrocki, and stepson Anthony (Shelley) Jabrocki. Susan was a proud grandmother to Ashley (Robert), Mark, Erin (Jake), Samuel (Elizabeth), Jacob, Kaitlyn (Ben), Rebekah, and Sara. Her legacy continues with her great-grandchildren Harper, Khloe, Miyah, Charlotte, Brooklyn, Ella, Noah, and Oliver, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Sam; her father Elmer (Jack) Derby; her sister Gwen Lathwell; her mother Doris Elaine Derby; her brother-in-law Edward Haik; her niece Celia Bickel Beals; her second husband Edward Stanley Jabrocki; and her loyal canine companion Brown.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her surviving sisters, Brenda (Dave) Bickel and Louise Haik, who shared her life’s journey.
Susan’s life was filled with the beauty of nature, as she was an enthusiastic and resolute member of the Mason County Garden Club. Her love for gardening was evident in the time she spent cultivating her garden, where she found solace and joy in the nurturing of life. Her garden reflected her love for all things that grow.
In her later years, Susan found companionship in her precocious cat, Tommy, and her four-legged grandchildren, Moose, Wolfgang, and Beanz, who brought immense joy and laughter to her days.
Susan has taken her final journey, stepping past the horizon and straight into the arms of her beloved Sam. Her lifelong love for travel has led her to the most peaceful destination of all: reunited with the one her heart missed most.
As we remember Susan, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart full of love, and a spirit that will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, forever reunited with Sam, in the garden of heaven.
A memorial service for Susan will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home in Ludington, with visitation beginning at noon. In accordance with her wishes, she will be laid to rest alongside her first husband, Sam.
The family welcomes those who wish to honor Susan’s memory to consider a donation to Victory Trinity Lutheran Church, 3208 W. Victory Dr., Ludington, MI 49431, in her name.
