Ludington High School earns national recognition for 10th consecutive year

LUDINGTON — Ludington High School has been named to the U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools list for the 10th consecutive year.

The school has consistently ranked among the top 10% of Michigan public high schools, according to Ludington Area School District officials.

U.S. News evaluates more than 25,000 schools annually, ranking them based on academic performance, college readiness, Advanced Placement participation and success, graduation rates and academic equity.

District officials said Ludington High School consistently ranks as the highest-performing school within its demographic subgroup based on results from the SAT, which is administered to all Michigan high school juniors.

LHS students may participate in Advanced Placement courses, dual-enrollment programs through West Shore Community College and career and technical education programs at West Shore Educational Service District’s West Shore Community College Tech Center. District officials said LHS students enrolled in AP courses have consistently exceeded state and national achievement levels.

“Earning a spot on this list for 10 consecutive years is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our students, teachers, support staff and community,” Ludington Area School District Superintendent Travis Walker said. “This decade of continuous recognition reflects more than high test scores; it underscores a pre-K-12 systemwide culture of academic rigor, equitable learning opportunities and relentless support for every student who walks through our doors.”

Ludington High School Principal Steve Forsberg said maintaining the recognition for a decade was the result of efforts throughout the school district.

“It is the direct result of our educators, pre-K through 12th grade, all pushing the boundaries of classroom excellence, our students rising to meet high academic standards and our families partnering with us every step of the way,” Forsberg said. “I could not be prouder of what our Oriole community continues to achieve together.”
