Employment: Zoning Administrator, Hamlin Township

Hamlin Township is seeking a qualified zoning administrator to administer and enforce the township’s zoning ordinance and applicable land-use regulations.

The position is 32 hours per week and includes regular office hours, evening meetings as needed, site visits and inspections, and occasional court appearances or township functions. The position includes a 90-day probationary period.

Responsibilities include processing zoning and land-use permits, investigating complaints and violations, conducting property inspections, maintaining records, responding to public inquiries and providing support to the Hamlin Township Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.

Applicants must have a valid Michigan driver’s license, strong organizational, communication and computer skills, and the ability to work independently and professionally with the public. Applicants must also be able to interpret and apply zoning ordinances and regulations. Experience in zoning, planning, code enforcement, municipal government or land use is preferred but not required.

The starting wage is $21.15 per hour. Benefits include health insurance, HSA, vision, retirement, paid vacation, sick leave, personal leave and holidays.
