Free Soil Community Center
FREE SOIL — Free Soil Township voters approved renewal of a 0.5-mill property tax Tuesday to continue funding the operation and maintenance of the Free Soil Community Center.
The proposal was approved by a vote of 142-102, according to unofficial election results from the Mason County Clerk’s Office.
The five-year renewal will run from 2026 through 2030. The levy renews 0.5 mills, or 50 cents per $1,000 of taxable value, within the township’s 15-mill constitutional tax limitation.
The renewal is intended to provide funding for the operation and maintenance of the Free Soil Community Center. The millage is expected to generate approximately $26,594 during the first year it is levied.
