LUDINGTON — Mason County voters approved the renewal of the county’s road patrol services millage Tuesday, giving continued financial support for additional patrol deputies with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
Unofficial election results show the eight-year renewal passed by a vote of 5,189 to 2,877, or about 64.3% in favor. The proposal renews up to 0.2980 mill for tax years 2026 through 2033.
The millage, which is a renewal of the county’s existing levy reduced under the Headlee Amendment rollback provisions, will continue funding equipment, vehicles, operating expenses and personnel costs for four road patrol deputies. If levied in full during its first year, the millage is expected to generate about $1.17 million.
The proposal carried in 21 of the county’s 22 precincts. Free Soil Township was the only precinct to reject the measure, 129-114.
