Mason and Oceana county law enforcement agencies and emergency responders handled a wide range of calls Tuesday, Aug. 4, including reports of indecent exposure, a criminal sexual conduct complaint, domestic incidents, a suspected impaired driver, crashes, juvenile complaints and numerous traffic stops.
In Mason County, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office logged 32 calls for service during the reporting period, while the Ludington Police Department responded to 28 incidents. Mason County Life EMS responded to 10 medical and transport calls. Mason-Oceana 911 also handled numerous 911 hang-up calls, information requests and interagency communications.
In Oceana County, the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office responded to 27 calls for service, with additional responses by Michigan State Police, Hart Police Department, Shelby Police Department, New Era Police Department and Oceana EMS.
Among the notable Mason County incidents:
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious situation at 9:09 a.m. on East Sugar Grove Road in Sheridan Township and investigated a runaway complaint at 9:34 a.m. on West Decker Road in Victory Township.
Deputies conducted well-being checks at 9:45 a.m. in Hamlin Township, 10:42 a.m. in Summit Township and 3:53 p.m. in Pere Marquette Township.
At 10:53 a.m., deputies investigated a property damage crash on West U.S. 10 in Amber Township. Earlier in the morning, deputies also responded to a car-deer crash on West U.S. 10 in Amber Township.
Deputies handled a disturbance in Amber Township shortly after 12:30 p.m., followed by a juvenile complaint in Pere Marquette Township at 12:54 p.m.
A report of operating under the influence was investigated at 4:58 p.m. in Pere Marquette Township.
Deputies also responded to a domestic dispute at 4 p.m. on West Fourth Street in Scottville and another domestic incident at 8:43 p.m. along North U.S. 31 in Victory Township.
Other sheriff’s office activity included an abandoned vehicle complaint in Pere Marquette Township, found property in Scottville, an alarm in Hamlin Township, civil and trespassing complaints in Hamlin Township, a dispatch deer call, a warrant pickup, law enforcement transport, multiple traffic stops and follow-up investigations.
The Ludington Police Department investigated an indecent exposure complaint at 3:42 a.m., a larceny complaint at 3:53 a.m. and a threat complaint at 10:51 a.m.
Officers also responded to suspicious situations during the early morning hours on Maritime Drive and before noon on South Washington Avenue.
A criminal sexual conduct complaint was reported at 8:12 p.m. on East Tinkham Avenue.
Other city police activity included a domestic incident, a warrant pickup, a well-being check, ordinance violations, a traffic hazard, miscellaneous complaints, follow-up investigations and numerous traffic stops.
Among the notable Oceana County incidents:
The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office responded to a juvenile complaint at 12:04 a.m. on West Wilke Road in Claybanks Township and investigated found property at 8:18 a.m. in Golden Township.
Deputies handled a car-deer crash at 6:45 a.m. on East Main Street in Hart and later responded to a civil complaint in Hart during the afternoon.
Other Oceana County activity included assist motorist calls, suspicious complaints, traffic enforcement, alarms and routine law enforcement activity.
Mason County Life EMS responded throughout the day to multiple medical emergencies, including priority medical calls in Ludington, Sheridan Township and Amber Township, along with patient transports and a standby assignment in Branch Township. Oceana EMS also responded to medical calls during the reporting period.
The dispatch log reflects initial calls for service and does not indicate whether arrests were made or criminal charges were authorized.
