SCOTTVILLE — The return of the popular horse pull, a Saturday evening performance by the Scottville Clown Band and the raffle of a rebuilt 1929 Ford AA Doodle Bug are among the highlights of the 52nd annual Western Michigan Old Engine and Tractor Show, set for Aug. 6-8 at Scottville Riverside Park. The restored Doodle Bug, which will be raffled Saturday at 5 p.m., was rebuilt by Western Michigan Old Engine Club members Tim Leonard and Junior Ramirez.
The annual show, hosted by the Western Michigan Old Engine Club, will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at the club’s grounds in Scottville Riverside Park, 700 S. Scottville Road.
The three-day event celebrates Michigan’s agricultural heritage through working demonstrations of antique machinery, tractor displays and family-friendly activities.
The Doodle Bug will be raffled Saturday
Visitors will have the opportunity to see antique tractors, trucks, lawn and garden tractors, hit-and-miss engines and stationary engines from a bygone era. Live demonstrations throughout the show include threshing, baling, blacksmithing, corn shelling and grinding, along with an operating sawmill, shingle mill, a 1925 American LaFrance fire truck and the club’s Wilford power shovel. A daily flea market and swap meet will also be held.
A noon tractor and equipment parade will be held each day. The annual dead-weight tractor pull is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
The return of the horse pull is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday.
Saturday’s activities include Kids Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and all-day tractor pulls featuring garden tractors, farm tractors and doodle bugs. The Scottville Clown Band will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, providing an entertaining conclusion to the show’s final evening.

One of the featured attractions this year is the rebuilt 1929 Ford AA Doodle Bug, which will be raffled at 5 p.m. Saturday. Raffle tickets are $10 each and are available during the show. Club members Tim Leonard and Junior Ramirez completed the restoration project.
Founded in 1974, the Western Michigan Old Engine Club is dedicated to preserving and demonstrating historic agricultural machinery and equipment. Since 1990, the club has called Scottville Riverside Park home, where volunteers maintain the grounds and operate many of the antique machines during the annual show.
Admission is $7 for adults. Thursday is Senior Day, with admission reduced to $5 for those age 65 and older. Children age 12 and younger are admitted free. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the event.
