LUDINGTON — Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians should expect traffic disruptions Saturday, July 4, as portions of downtown Ludington close for the JCI Ludington Freedom Festival parade and evening fireworks celebration.

The City of Ludington announced that US-10/Ludington Avenue between Madison Street and Lakeshore Drive, along with Lakeshore Drive to Tinkham Avenue, will be closed to through traffic beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday for the Freedom Festival Parade. The roads will remain closed until the parade concludes.

Parking will be prohibited along Ludington Avenue during the parade. A signed detour will direct traffic along Staffon Street to Tinkham Avenue. City officials encourage motorists to use alternate routes to reduce congestion, minimize delays and improve safety.

Additional closures will be in effect later in the day. The Loomis Street boat launch parking area will close at 4 p.m. Saturday. All vehicles must be removed from the lot by 6 p.m. The parking area will reopen following the conclusion of the fireworks display. Stearns Park will also close at 4 p.m. Saturday and remain closed until noon Sunday, July 5.
