June 23, 2026

HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — Ludington State Park’s summer nature and recreation series continues Sunday, June 21, through Saturday, July 4, with free programs highlighting wildlife, natural history, outdoor skills, live music and hands-on learning opportunities for visitors of all ages.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has released the next two weeks of programming, featuring daily activities at locations throughout the park, including the Michigan Beach House, Hamlin Dam, campground areas and the park amphitheater.

Programs scheduled during the period include presentations on Michigan mammals, turtles, fish, invasive species, geology and dune ecosystems, along with guided tree identification walks, river investigations and lessons on animal tracks and scat. Visitors can also learn about the history of Ludington State Park and participate in orienteering activities.

Weekly fishing programs will be held at Hamlin Dam, with bait and fishing poles provided. Archery sessions for participants ages 9 and older are scheduled on Saturday, June 27, and Saturday, July 4. Participants age 17 and older must possess a valid Michigan fishing license to fish.

The park’s Summer Guest Presenter Series will feature performances by 80 Cows on Thursday, June 25; Ruth and Max Bloomquist on Saturday, June 27; and Eric Henning on Thursday, July 2.

Most activities are free and open to visitors on a drop-in basis. Some programs include guided walks ranging from one-half mile to 1 mile.

A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into Ludington State Park. Additional information is available at Michigan.gov/Ludington or by calling 231-843-9261.
