Woods, Waves and Ways opens July 18
LUDINGTON — Marie Marfia, a Ludington-based soft pastel artist, will present Woods, Waves and Ways at Timeless Picture Framing and Gallery from July 18 through Aug. 14. From dramatic Lake Michigan sunsets to quiet river scenes and stately white pines, the exhibition reflects the natural bounty found in the queen of Michigan’s state parks.
Marfia is an award-winning pastel artist whose work explores landscapes, people and skeletons. Through vibrant color and expressive mark making, she hopes to connect with people who love Ludington State Park while sparking conversations about the importance of preserving and appreciating the region’s natural resources.
The exhibition marks Marfia’s first show at Timeless Picture Framing and Gallery. Her paintings were inspired by countless walks through the park’s diverse trails and pathways, capturing scenes familiar to the thousands of visitors who explore the park each year.
“I’m hoping to share my ‘park scapes’ with other people like me who appreciate the beauty of the Ludington State Park and are grateful to be able to enjoy it year ’round,” Marfia said.
Woods, Waves and Ways will be on display July 18 through Aug. 14 at Timeless Picture Framing and Gallery, 103 E. Ludington Ave., Ludington, MI 49431. Marfia earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids. She has exhibited extensively throughout the region and has participated in numerous national juried exhibitions.
