SANDUSKY, Ohio — Twenty gymnasts from Flipstar Gymnastics Center competed against approximately 700 athletes from across the Midwest at the Regional Championship Meet held at Cedar Point Sports Center, bringing home 98 top-10 medals, including 27 top-three podium finishes, five regional championship titles and seven Regional Team honors.
Regional Team recognition is awarded to gymnasts who post one of the top six scores in their level across the competition.
At the Xcel Copper level, competing in their first regional championship meet, Lorellei Patten claimed the regional uneven bars title in her age division. Patten also earned a second-place finish and two fifth-place event medals to place second in the all-around. Juniper Wohlberg earned two sixth-place medals, an eighth-place medal and a ninth-place medal for a seventh-place all-around finish. Tessa Keson earned third place on uneven bars along with seventh-, eighth- and ninth-place event medals to finish ninth all-around. Patten and Keson both earned Regional Team honors.

Five Flipstar gymnasts competed in the Xcel Bronze division, with all five placing in the top 10 in the all-around competition. Hensley Chavalia earned a third-place medal on vault, along with two fourth-place and one ninth-place event medals, finishing fifth all-around. Evie Witkowski earned one sixth-place, two eighth-place and one ninth-place event medals for an eighth-place all-around finish. Stevie Trejo posted sixth-, eighth-, eighth- and ninth-place event finishes to place ninth all-around. Ryah Nichols earned seventh-, eighth-, ninth- and 10th-place event medals and finished ninth all-around. Fiona Ewing earned eighth-, ninth-, 10th- and 11th-place event finishes for 10th place all-around.

Flipstar’s four Xcel Silver gymnasts competed in a field of 183 athletes. Nola Randle and Olivia Machen each earned two third-place podium finishes. Randle added two fourth-place event medals to finish fourth all-around, while Machen added fourth- and fifth-place event medals to place fifth all-around. Elyse Lindbloom earned fourth-, sixth-, sixth- and eighth-place event medals for seventh place all-around. Natalie Lloyd recorded three ninth-place and one 11th-place event finishes and placed 11th all-around.

Gold: Oriana Hill
In the Xcel Gold division, Flipstar competed against a field of 194 gymnasts. Oriana Hill captured the regional vault championship and added two runner-up finishes and a fourth-place event medal to earn regional all-around runner-up honors. Hill also earned Regional Team recognition. Maple Prescott earned sixth-, eighth-, eighth- and 11th-place event finishes to place sixth all-around. Rylee Revolt recorded two sixth-place finishes along with ninth- and 10th-place event placements to finish seventh all-around. Braelynn Sanders earned two seventh-place finishes, along with 11th- and 13th-place event placements, finishing 12th all-around.

At the Xcel Platinum level, Grace Hasenbank earned fourth-, sixth-, sixth- and 10th-place event medals and placed fifth all-around. Abby Dodson claimed the regional floor exercise championship with a score of 9.675, the highest floor score of her session. The performance also earned Dodson a Regional Team selection. She added sixth-, seventh- and 10th-place event finishes to place seventh all-around.

Three Flipstar athletes competed in the Xcel Ladies divisions, and all three earned Regional Team honors.
Lauren Lloyd, competing in Xcel Gold, finished on the podium in all events, capturing the regional balance beam title while earning one second-place and two third-place event finishes. Lloyd also won the regional all-around championship and received an All-American trophy for posting the highest all-around score of her session.
Kelsey Britton, also competing in Xcel Gold, earned second-, third- and two fourth-place event medals while finishing fourth all-around.
Justine Lofton competed in Xcel Platinum and earned runner-up honors on every event as well as in the all-around competition.
Nearly all of Flipstar’s regional competitors were first-year athletes at their current levels. The strong performances came against some of the top gymnasts from multiple Midwestern states.
Flipstar will send 13 gymnasts to Knoxville, Tennessee, later this month to compete at the National Championships.
