LUDINGTON — Women Who Care of Mason County recently presented donations totaling more than $18,000 to two area nonprofit organizations serving residents in Mason, Lake and Oceana counties.
The local women’s philanthropic group donated $9,520 to Mason County Life Recovery and $8,985 to Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters, known as COVE.
Women Who Care of Mason County raises money each quarter to support local nonprofits and charities.
Mason County Life Recovery is a rehabilitation organization that helps people struggling with addiction. The donation will help support the organization’s programs along with renovations and additions to its building space.
The organization hosts Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings and operates a 90-day recovery program focused on sobriety and life skills. Participants learn skills including grocery shopping, preparing nutritious meals and understanding how family dynamics can contribute to addiction.
COVE provides shelter, protection and advocacy services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
The organization serves residents in Mason, Lake and Oceana counties and works to educate the community about the root causes of violence. Services are available to residential and non-residential clients and are designed to provide safety, information, advocacy and community resources to survivors and their children.
According to the organization, donations remain local and are used to support services in Mason, Lake and Oceana counties.
