Street party, car show, Blessing of the Boats, historic home tours and more planned

LUDINGTON — Love Ludington Weekend begins June 5 with a lineup of family-friendly events celebrating the start of summer in downtown Ludington. Highlights of the annual festivities include a street party, classic car show and Blessing of the Boats, all honoring the spirit and charm of the city of Ludington.

On Friday, June 5, streets in downtown Ludington will close for the Love Ludington Street Party, featuring live music, bounce houses, food vendors and more. Festivities will run from 6 to 9 p.m., and portions of Ludington Avenue and James Street will be closed to traffic. West Michigan cover band Onager will headline the entertainment stage at Legacy Plaza, performing music from a variety of genres.

Family-friendly activities will take place throughout the downtown area, provided largely by local nonprofit organizations. All activities are open to the public and free of charge. AndyS of Ludington is the presenting sponsor of the event.

Other Love Ludington Weekend highlights include:

• Downtown Ludington Artisan & Farmers Market — 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 5, at Legacy Plaza, featuring local produce and farm products.

• Beer, wine and spirits available for purchase from 13 downtown establishments to be enjoyed within the Ludington Outdoor Social District daily until midnight.

• Car show — 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 5, on Ludington Avenue between Robert and William streets. The event, hosted by the Ludington Auto Club and held in conjunction with the Love Ludington Street Party, will feature vintage cars, music, food trucks and awards.

• Tours and discounts at historic attractions, including $2.50 off admission to Historic White Pine Village and the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum.

• Blessing of the Boats — 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at West End, 950 W. Ludington Ave., featuring a blessing of boat keys, food trucks, a beer tent, entertainment and raffles.

• S.S. Badger Shoreline Cruise — 9 to 11 p.m.
