MONTAGUE — Ludington closed out the regular-season West Michigan Conference schedule in strong fashion Tuesday night, with both the Orioles boys and girls track and field teams earning victories in a meet against Montague and Fremont.
The Ludington girls completed the conference regular season unbeaten at 6-0, while the boys finished with a 4-2 record.
Ludington coach John Lipa said the Orioles turned in a total team effort in the final conference meet before Friday’s league championships.
Eliza Schwass led the girls team by winning both the 800-meter run and 3,200-meter run. She also ran on two winning relay teams, helping the Orioles capture the 4×800 relay along with Cece Ryan, Allie Brandt and Maddie Kanitz, and the 4×400 relay with Harper Rasmussen, Riley Smith and Leah Allen.
Allen added an individual victory in the 200-meter dash, while Haidyn Larsen won the shot put.
Camille Brahm swept the jumping events for Ludington, taking first place in both the long jump and high jump.
On the boys side, Jayce Hodges sprinted to victories in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Hodges also teamed with Deren Rodriguez, Victor Herevia and Stryder Neves to win the 4×100 relay.
Raymond Karboski won the 400-meter run, while Oliver Kolb claimed first place in the 800. Micah Theis also turned in a strong performance with a personal-record time in the 800.
In the field events, Walt Autrey earned victories in both the shot put and discus, and Rodriguez added a win in the long jump.
Ludington returns to Montague on Friday for the conference championships, where the Orioles girls team will look to secure the outright conference title.
