RAVENNA — Mason County Central battled tough conditions and a strong field to finish sixth Monday at the third Western Michigan Conference Rivers Division boys golf jamboree at Moss Ridge Golf Club.
Played in blustery winds that drove scores up across the course, North Muskegon captured the team title with a 170. Titan Carter of Shelby and Luke Jones of North Muskegon shared medalist honors, each carding a 38.
The Spartans posted a team score of 201. Leading the way for Mason County Central were Grayden Etchison and Lane Sterley, who each shot 47. Bode Etchison followed with a 51, and Colten Thwaites added a 56 to round out the team scoring.
Cole VanderHaag finished with a 57, while Gannon Hansen shot a 71.
Mason County Central coach Tim Genson said the wind played a major factor throughout the round, contributing to elevated scores across the field.
The Spartans return to action Wednesday, May 6, at Hesperia for the fourth league jamboree.
