LUDINGTON — The MV Prime departed the Port of Ludington Monday morning. The ship entered port early Sunday morning and docked at the OxyChem Ludington plant, which produces calcium chloride. Its next destination is Loyalist Cove, which is located near Bath, Ontario, Canada along Lake Ontario, about 20 miles west of Kingston, Ontario.
Prime is a Norwegian-flagged tanker that was built in 2004. It is approximately 459 feet in length and 69 feet in width. It has a gross tonnage of 9,910 and a deadweight capacity of about 16,260 short tons. Prime is powered by an engine rated at approximately 11,330 horsepower and is designed to transport refined petroleum products and liquid chemicals. The ship sails under the Norwegian International Ship Register.
Prime was assisted in port by the tug Sarah Andrie, based out of Muskegon.
