VICTORY TOWNSHIP — The Muddy Fox Trot, a family-friendly 5K mud run featuring a boot camp-style obstacle course, will return for its 11th year Saturday, July 18, at West Shore Community College.

Course flights are scheduled to begin as early as 9:30 a.m. on the college campus.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the WSCC Foundation student scholarship fund.

The registration fee for adults is $25, with the course designed to challenge participants ranging from casual weekend runners to seasoned athletes. Current WSCC students may participate for free on the day of the event with a valid student ID.

Youth also are encouraged to take part. There is no registration fee for participants under age 16.

Organizers said the course will feature a variety of obstacles common to mud runs, including muddy trenches, hillsides, shallow water crossings, and barriers such as wooden walls and hay bales.

“It’s an entire day of family fun as participants slip, slide, and slosh their way to victory while raising scholarship money for many of the college’s deserving students,” said Julie Page Smith, race organizer and director of the college’s Wellness Center. “Our focus is on creating a unique event and the improved course will make it a memorable one whether running or watching.”

Post-run activities will include healthy snacks and drinks, as well as an opportunity to meet Westy the Fox.
