SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central JV softball team dropped a doubleheader to Ravenna on Tuesday, falling 21-6 in Game 1 and 11-2 in Game 2.
In the opener, Avery Miller took the loss for the Spartans, allowing nine hits and nine walks while striking out three. Only two of the runs charged were earned.
MCC found some offensive production despite the lopsided score. Miller collected two hits and scored twice. Anya Shatova added a hit, a stolen base and crossed the plate two times. Lexi Lemire drove in two runs and scored once, while Emma Hansen doubled, scored a run, stole a base and added an RBI. Brielle Cerka and Ella Personette each contributed an RBI.
The Spartans dropped the second game 11-2. Brooke Hawke was tagged with the loss, surrendering seven hits and six walks while striking out four. Four of the runs against her were earned.
Offensively, Shatova had a hit, a stolen base and an RBI. Hansen went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Hawke added a hit.
Mason County Central coach Jeanne Miller said the team continues to look for consistency.
“We’re seeing flashes of what this group can do, especially at the plate, but we have to clean up the walks and make more routine plays defensively,” Miller said. “When we put it together, we’ll be competitive.”
The Spartans were also in action on the baseball diamond against Ravenna, though results from the varsity contest were not immediately available.
